Mercury Retrograde...the spiritual meaning of it and how it will affect your sign
Where are you undergoing a cosmic reset right now?
You may have heard of the dreaded Mercury Retrograde which has become increasingly popularized in modern day.
Mercury rules our technology, our travel, communication, our mind and logic, how we think and how we organise. If I make any spelling mistakes in this post, best believe I’ll be blaming Mercury!
So on a day to day basis during Mercury retrograde we can experience annoying situations such as our phone being slow, the pay and display machine not working or our route to work being delayed. There always seems to be more traffic lights and road closures and things can get lost in the post.
But what is the real astrological point of this planet’s regression? Sometimes in life, we need to slow down. We need to sit back and ask ourselves, is this still working for me? Would something else be better? More aligned? And the only way us busy humans can be reminded to just hold on a minute, is for the planets to help us by “playing up” in a sense. If you are forced to sit and wait for those temporary traffic lights to turn green, perhaps on the way home you will change your planned route? Go a different way? This is symbolic for all areas of your life.
Of course, each retrograde is different based upon the sign it is happening in and aspects that Mercury is making.
Mercury turned retrograde in Aries on 15th March and will continue moving backwards into Pisces on the 30th March where it will then station direct on the 7th April.
General themes around Mercury retrograding in the sign of Aries evoke a rethinking process around our identity, how we show up in the world and what we assert ourselves into. There may also be themes of rethinking something within our home or family setting or having to go back over something we hadn’t finished.
General themes of Mercury retrograding in the sign of Pisces have us questioning our beliefs. We may be reflecting on our habits or addictions. Some of us are being asked to let go or heal something and we may be returning to a spiritual practice or a place of worship or solitude.
Mercury rules Virgo and Gemini and so, If you have your sun, moon and especially your rising sign in one of these signs, these retrogrades will always affect you more than most.
Equally, for this retrograde process, Aries and Pisces will also feel this strongly. However, all signs will be influenced in the area of life that you have Aries and Pisces in your chart.
